The Role

  • Communicate with a range of stakeholders to understand business processes by focusing on areas that are core differentiators of the organization. Through interviews and joint application design sessions, the BA will document business processes and models. This will include business requirements, workflow activities, and visualizations of how the business process maps to system functionality
  • In support of modernization, the BA will facilitate the collaboration of systems engineering and operations teams in various technical areas, ensuring the delivery of enterprise technology platforms and services that align with enterprise standards and technology roadmaps
  • Develop business process diagrams at various levels of detail as determined by the complexity of the process and the audience interpreting the diagram
  • Develop business process artifacts that enable a shared (business and IT) view of processes. This will enable stakeholders across the organization to speak the same language
  • Leverage architectural notation such as Business Process Model and Notation 2.0 (BPMN) to map business capability to IT operations and system functions
  • Assemble activity diagrams to model the behavior of a system and the way in which the system supports business workflows
  • Develop roadmaps and diagrams that illustrate functional dependencies and the planned initiatives that will realize an intended target state
  • Develop systems requirement documents that can be easily translated into a systems specification by a system or programmer analyst
  • Connect requirements together into a hierarchy structure
  • Develop use case diagrams and map functional requirements
  • Visually represents data flows between business functions with the goal of minimizing data and process duplication with other business processes

The Background Profile

  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Secret Security Clearance or Granted Interim Secret Clearance required
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of relevant experience
  • 5+ years in the IT Industry including technical support, engineering and/or IT project management
  • 5+ years’ experience of documenting business processes
  • Knowledge of DODAF and related standards and best practices
  • Knowledge of Agile/SCRUM and SDLC standards and best practices
  • Recent working knowledge of evolving IT technologies and processes (DevOp)
  • Understanding of process modeling notation
  • Business process simulation with Sparx Enterprise Architect
  • Ability and experience in designing and delivering effective oral and written presentations and communicating complex ideas well both verbally and in writing
  • Strong initiative, interpersonal and communication skills with ability to work optimally with people at all levels in an organization
  • Ability to work in a team and agile environment
  • Demonstrated competence in process design
  • High level of customer focus with commitment to accomplishing business objectives
  • Manages multiple priorities with an emphasis on action and speed without sacrificing quality or deviating from standards and procedures
  • Demonstrates ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing circumstances
